They will travel back to long before the Halo Array was built, and do something terrible. My hypothesis? Judging from these logs, as well as the Harbinger's claim that the Endless were punished "for crimes not their own," I believe that the Endless will, at some point, learn how to achieve some mastery over time. I believe her study of the stone rings led her to the conclusion that time is moving forwards and back, in an Endless circle, and she realizes that that's what they are warning about: The Endless. I do not think she has forgotten that the Endless exist, but the Grand Edict never told her why they needed to be locked up. Next, there are the Forerunner Artifact logs, which take place much later, as Pyre is no longer sure if it has been 2 or 20 thousand years. Next, we have the 4th Archaeology log, in which she mentions that she will use the Silent Auditorium to contain the Xalanyn/Endless and test "the limits of what they can endure." It is likely that Offensive Bias assisted her in getting all of the Endless/Xalanyn from their homeworld onto the Ring somehow.Īll of these take place in about 97,368 BCE, 77 years after the Halos were fired. I believe the Legendary Ending comes after this, where she receives instructions from the Grand Edict, and Offensive Bias is deployed. The third of those logs, "Xalanyn," mentions that she will ask the Council for Instruction.
